Geminoid F android unveiled

Japanese robotics researcher Hiroshi Ishiguro is continuing his quest to build androids that look and behave as close to human as possible. After creating an android copy of his young daughter, a TV celebrity and  himself , earlier today he announced that he has created a new state-of-the-art android called Geminoid F.

Mars Rover Upgraded With AI Software

NASA announced  that one of its Mars rovers, Opportunity, had been upgraded with artificial intelligence (AI) software that will enable the rover to determine whether to stop and analyze rocks as it traverses the surface of the Red Planet. The software now onboard Opportunity, has been under development for several years at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Microsoft patents 'guardian angel' idea for intelligent personal agent

Microsoft has been granted a patent on an "intelligent personal agent" that could predict a user's wants and actions. If the user is at a shopping mall and the software's artificial intelligence knows it's lunchtime, the "guardian angel" could search for nearby restaurants that serve the user's preferred foods, choose a cuisine based on the user's recent meals, check for seating availability, and make lunch reservations.

Honda, ATR and Shimadzu Jointly Develop Brain-Machine Interface Technology Enabling Control of a Robot by Human Thought Alone

Honda Research Institute Japan Co., Ltd., Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute International  and Shimadzu Corporation have collaboratively developed the world’s first*1 Brain Machine Interface (BMI) technology that uses electroencephalography (EEG) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) along with newly developed information extraction technology to enable control of a robot by human thought alone.
