Autodesk Unveils 2011 Versions of Its Digital Entertainment Creation Software

Autodesk, Inc. has announced the latest versions of its Digital Entertainment Creation software for 3D modeling, animation, effects, rendering, compositing, digital sculpting and 3D painting. The 2011 versions offer new features and enhancements that help accelerate workflows and improve interoperability, helping artists to maximize their creativity and optimize their productivity. Autodesk has also launched new versions of Autodesk Kynapse and Autodesk HumanIK game development middleware, focused on improving ease of use.

Intel’s new game processor gives artificial intelligence in games a boost

The new chip is based on Intel’s 32-nanometer manufacturing process, which produces chips that are faster, smaller and cheaper than prior versions. It has six processing cores, or computing brains, and each core is capable of processing two pieces of code at once. Intel says it is ideal for tasks such as digital content creation, 3-D rendering, multitasking and gaming.

Artificial Life Announces Fiscal Year 2009 Results

For the year 2009, Artificial Life sold over 12 million licenses for its mobile Java games worldwide. 2009 also saw significant growth in the market for iPhone games and applications, and though a relative newcomer to the iPhone market, Artificial Life became one of the leading iPhone publishers. The Company had over 10 million game downloads globally and 70% of its games achieved a top-10 ranking, 46% a top-5 ranking, and 33% of the games even reached a #1 ranking on Apple's download charts in many countries around the globe.

ALEKS 360 acts much like a skilled human tutor, delivering precise assessments of students' math knowledge, guiding them in the selection of appropriate new study material, and recording their progress toward mastery of course goals. Through adaptive questioning, ALEKS accurately assesses a student's knowledge state and delivers targeted instruction on the exact topics a student is most ready to learn. GM Develops Augmented Reality Windshield

A new "enhanced vision system" from General Motors could help drivers by highlighting landmarks, obstacles and road edges on the windshield in real-time. Such a system can point out to drivers potential hazards, such as a running animal, even in foggy or dark conditions, GM says.
